Emergency Medical Responder Course

The EMP Canada Emergency Medical Responder program has achieved recognition in the provinces of both Alberta and British Columbia. It has been recognized by the Alberta College of Paramedics as well as the Emergency Medical Assistance Licensing Branch of British Columbia as being equivalent to the National Occupational Competency Profiles (NOCP). All EMR training programs must satisfy these competencies in order to be approved by EMA/EMR Licensing. Further, it is necessary that the EMR program satisfy Occupational First Aid (OFA) requirements with Workers' compensation Board.

The EMP Canada Emergency Medical Responder, consists of two main modules. The first module is the 76-Hour Advanced Workplace Level Three Supplement course (OFA Level Three) which consists of some 75 hours of didactic together with 25 hours of self-study for a total of 100 hours. The second module of the program consists of 40 hours of didactic together with 25 hours of self-study bringing the total course to 165 hours in tuition. On successfully completing this program, it enables those individuals to receive the following recognitions:

Emergencv Medical Responder Training Course:
• First Responder Level Three certification
• 76-Hour Advanced Workplace Level Three Supplement (OFA Level Three) certification
• Emergency Medical Responder successful completion enabling the holder to challenge the EMA Licensing Board’s exam for BC
• Emergency Medical Responder successful completion certification enabling the holder to challenge the Alberta College of Paramedics EMR exam.
