Good Sam Stories

In 1989, EMP CANADA introduced the Good Samaritan Award Program. This is more than a "Life Saving" award reserved for heroic deeds. In our view, each person who steps forward in an emergency and offers care and comfort deserves to be recognized.

It would be convenient if, ahead of time, we could choreograph the exact sequence of events in an emergency. But that is impossible. In some instances, the sequence of care performed by a provider may vary from that taught in the classroom. The Good Samaritan stories in this section of our Web site demonstrate the ability of people to learn the basic skills of patient care and then adapt them to a wide variety of situations encountered in the real world.

These stories involve people nominated for EMP CANADA's Good Samaritan Award by their Instructors, Trainers, or organizations providing the emergency response training.

The care rendered may have been to a family member, co-worker, friend, stranger, or even to themselves. As you will see from the stories, what may seem like a small thing at the time can mean the difference between life and death, or between permanent injury and a healthy life.

Good Samaritan Stories
These Good Samaritan Award stories are not designed to teach emergency response techniques, but to inspire others to greater acts of human kindness.
